COVID-19: Seven more test positive in Bandipora, tally now 115

Bandipora, Apr 25 The deadly COVID-19 pandemic continues to widen its net as seven more persons tested positive in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 115.

An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer(KNO), that seven new cases were reported from Gund-Jahangeer, Gund-Qaiser and Naidkhai areas of the district today.

He said that out of seven new cases 4 were reported from Naidkhai, 2 from Gund-Qaiser and one from Gund-Jahengeer village.

“Total number of cases in the district now stands at 115 of which 91 are active while 22 patients people have been discharged so far. A patient has also died due to Covid-19 in Gund-Jahengeer village of Hajin,” he said.

He said that out of the total 115 cases, 73 were reported from Hajin medical block and 42 from Bandipora block.

He said that samples of 1143 persons have been collected so far out of which 115 cases have been found positive, 925 cases as negative while reports of rest of the cases are still awaited. 

In Gund-Jahangeer over 43 patients have been tested positive and in Gund-Qaiser over 26 people have been tested positive ao far.

The first coronavirus case from the village was reported on March 24 from Kehnusa village. The patient had returned from Andhra-pardash days before the lockdown. Meanwhile, restrictions on the movement and assembly of people in Bandipora to contain the spread of the coronavirus continued, officials said.

They said that a Masjid was also sealed in Gund-Qaiser village after 2 new cases were reported from the village today—(KNO)
