Free Ration Distributed Among 500 Local Destitute Families, 2300 Non-Local Labours in Successive Phases: DC B'la

Baramulla, April 05 (KNS): As part of the district administration's initiative of providing essential commodities in a hassle free manner in the wake the prevailing circumstances that emerged due to COVID-19 outbreak, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today informed that various food items including rice, flour, oil etc has been distributed in successive stages among several beneficiaries comprising both local destitute families as well as non local labours.
Elaborating the details, DC said that in Phase-I, ration packs has been distributed among 2300 non-local labours. He also said that free ration was distributed among 500 local destitute families that were identified by the local community representatives across the district, in the next phase. Moreover, DC said that in third phase, about 2300 non locals were accommodated in government established shelters among which free ration is being supplied on daily basis.
Meanwhile, Dr Itoo informed that 2 months advance ration shall be distributed among the people upto 25th of April after which free ration of 5 kg per person per month shall be distributed among 6.13 lakh souls belonging to AAY/PHH households for successive three months.
DC also said that district administration is scaling up the process of providing free distribution of essential goods to all those families who do not have the access to it under prevailing circumstances. He added that every effort shall be taken to streamline the distribution of essential commodities at the people’s door steps for which necessary mechanism has been formulated. He further said that district administration is making efforts to ensure all support to people and appealed them to stay safe at their homes so that the risk is mitigated.(KNS)
