'Pregnant lady was brought dead to hospital; family did not allow to follow COVID protocol', claims MS MCCH Anantnag
Srinagar, May 3: Authorities at Maternity and Child Care Hospital (MCCH) Anantnag Sunday claimed that that pregnant lady from Seer was brought dead to the hospital and the family of the deceased did not allow officials to follow COVID-19 protocol.
The deceased Shakeela wife of Zahoor Ahmad of Salia Anantnag died on Sunday morning after which a doctor and a nurse were suspended against alleged delay in treatment at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Seer Hamdan. She was referred to Maternity and Child Care Hospital (MCCH) Anantnag on Sunday morning.
“She was brought dead to hospital. Her family did not allow to follow COVID protocol. When officials from microbiology went to take her samples, her family took her body away on a trolley,” Medical Superintendent Child and Maternity Hospital Anantnag, Dr SM Andrabi, told news agency KINS.
The family members of the deceased alleged medical negligence. A video also went viral where the family members carried the dead body out of the hospital on a trolley and demanding justice.
“Preliminary reports suggest the dead body was taken away by relatives fearing they will have to wait for burial if sample is taken for covid test. Most unfortunate to say the least,” DC Anantnag Bashir Ahmad Dar Tweeted.
After taking her out on trolley, the family also held a protest on the road. The family alleged that the delay in the treatment at SDH Seer by the concerned doctors was the reason for her death.
This is the second death of a pregnant lady in Anantnag district within eight days. (KINS)
