Most parts of Kashmir record season’s coldest night
Srinagar: For ninth straight day, below normal temperatures continued across Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
The cold conditions intensified in most parts of Kashmir, while mercury improved slightly in Gulmarg.
Summer capital Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, which was this season's coldest night.
Pahalgam, which froze under a temperature of minus 4.7 degrees Celsius, remained the coldest place in Jammu and Kashmir, said Meteorological Department data.
Kupwara in north Kashmir, shivered at minus 2.3 degrees Celsius, which was 2.8 degrees below the average for this time of the year.
Ski-resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir, saw a slight improvement on Tuesday and recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, compared to minus 1.6 degrees Celsius the earlier night.
Kokernag in south Kashmir, registered a low temperature of 0.2 degrees Celsius, compared to 0.4 degrees Celsius on the previous night.
Bhaderwah was the coldest place in Jammu region and recorded a minimum temperature of 1.7 degrees Celsius, which was 1.5 degrees below the normal. It was also this season's coldest night for the place.
Jammu city recorded 9.7 degrees Celsius, Batote 6.3 degrees Celsius, Katra 9.7 degrees Celsius and Banihal 5 degrees Celsius as the night’s lowest temperatures. Meanwhile, Meteorological Department Srinagar has forecast mainly dry weather till November 19.
